Pirates sign standout West setter to letter-of-Intent

Victoria College began retooling for its 2020 volleyball season Wednesday by signing Victoria West setter Kia Willborn to a letter-of-intent.

Willborn was named the Setter of the Year in District 30-5A after helping the Warriors capture the 30-5A title.

"When I was little, I wanted top see how far I could go with my volleyball career, and now I'm here," said Willborn, who plans to study kinesiology at VC and aspires to be a volleyball coach.

Willborn led West in assists (590), digs (253) and service aces (102) last season.

Victoria College coach Josh Moore said he expects Willborn to see plenty of action during the 2020 season.

"She is the best setter in the area," Moore said. "I've seen her play for the last five years, and she has gotten stronger and more confident on the court. We feel as a freshman she will come in and be a leader on the team."
